Opened with an exhibition of contemporary artist, Tatsuo Kawaguchi, in April of 1983 in Higashiyama of Kyoto, GALLERY SUZUKI has been devoted to promoting Japanese and overseas artists.

It is known for two continuing project exhibitions: the “New modality of the image” which was started in 1990 for promoting producers, and its “Contemporary art, short piece exhibition” in which one hundred (or more) artists exhibit their works at the year-end. The gallery has also participated in the “Kyoto Art Map” since its inception in 1998. This is an event in which exhibitions are held simultaneously in contemporary art galleries around Kyoto.

Among the represented artists are Adam Thompson, Sándor Kecskeméti, Rieko Akatsuka, Koichi Kawasaki, Nobuaki Watanabe, and others.
