Opened in Hachobori, Tokyo in 2002 as a contemporary art section of galerie nichido - a veteran gallery founded in 1928 in Ginza, Tokyo, the nca focuses on photography, video, and installation works that explore the relationship between self and society. This is exemplified in the exhibition “Identity” which has taken place annually since the opening. Among the represented artists are, Masahito Koshinaka, Jean-Luc Moerman, Ann Lislegaard, Janaina Tschape, and mostly American and European artists.
