(2010), oil on canvas, 45.5 × 38.0cm The exhibition title "Seikei-niku (Processed meat)" means by the meat that softens the edge and internal organs with softener, and hardens it with sticking medicine. It is an age we can easily eat meat at a low price thanks to the processing technology. However, on the surface of meat, there is a "taste" the meat originally have. Kuwahara's painting might suggest to perceive not only the appearance but the "taste" disguised by the look. |
