Japanese cedar reaching a height of 2m and a weight of 200kg, Leucobryum juniperoideum. The planters used to carry each plant move around the exhibition room at a speed of 2km per hour, sometimes rotating or turning around by crashing into each other. This is created in cooperation with a company that manufactures play equipment for amusement parks. Due to the difference in the exhibition space, it is difficult to compare this with "Makoto Azuma’s solo-exhibition: Garden of Reversal 1" held from March 23rd 2006 to April 23rd 2006 at Mitsubishi-Jisho ARTIUM, however, it shows a will to simply reverse the image triggered by the word, "garden". Here, Azuma wrote; "Turn the town into plants/ Make buildings, cars, motorcycles and bikes of plants." In his mind, he must have objected to the recent tree-planting campaign. Companies seem ridiculous when hammering out sales strategies focused on "ecology" since they have been destroying nature in the name of "progress" for a long time. This exhibition is comical in some ways and can be taken as his cynical answer to the current enthusiasm of the business world for planting trees. It might be small but it is another kind of tree-planting campaign created only by those who sincerely love plants.
