In a white space, (s)he stood still in the distance to stare at Makoto Azuma. “LEAF MAN” is the existence Azuma saw in his dreams sometimes. Rezfan(F), Monsutera (M), Haran (F), Kuwazuimo (M), Yashi (F), Asuparagasu - Pera (M), Sanderina (F), Erendarika (M), Tamashida (F), Sumairakkusu (M). Each of ten mannequin dolls wears a different plant and the sex is distinguished by the type of leaves.

Since the moment of its release at AMPG, the eye-catching figure has gained popularity. It is used as the main visual for Azuma’s solo-exhibition at NRW Forum. The small figures were created for the special exhibition at Audi Forum Tokyo, and when dressing the new shop window of PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE they wore the company’s new collection. Although the work is basically a mannequin doll, Azuma disguised himself as LEAF MAN once for a magazine. Four "LEAF MEN" were particularly impressive at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT when they were displayed in an open-ceilinged sunken court exposed by the sunlight, with their leaves moving in the breeze. Azuma said they have never appeared in his dreams since he started to visualize them in artworks such as LEAF MAN, which might indicate “(s)he” was satisfied with coming into the real world, into the sunshine.
