This is a group exhibition by 3 young female artists selected by a fashion designer, Kosuke Tsumura, and “Monaka” which is an experimental unit of the 3 artists and Tsumura. Tsumura gave the best position of the exhibition place to the young artists, and had exhibited in a restrained place though veteran artists usually occupy a good position in such a group exhibition. I want to praise Tsumura’s gentlemanlike decision. One of the most impressive works in this exhibition is "The plastic arts" by Kumi Kaguraoaka which was made of plastic bands. A Swedish's fashion designer, Martin Bergström made remarks, "The body becomes the one like the bone union for clothes" (quoted from the exhibition handout of “Swedish Fashion”, Swedish Institute, 2009, p8). The work of Kaguraoaka is a masterpiece which embodies the concept of body = bone for clothes by a simple material. The work using LED is also appreciated at the high quality and dreamy atmosphere. Misa Okubo shows a good forming taste in “Mosaic rabbit” in which the animal motif is not ended only as being lovely with a colorful mosaic of the cloth. a piece of cloth is originally a plane, but it becomes a three‐dimensional shape when being processed into clothes. The complex process from a plane to a solid can be seen in the works by Aya Sato and Monaka. It is interesting that the subtle distinction between the fashion and the art recalls the exhibition “Luxury in fashion Reconsidered” held in Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo.
