Opened in October 2004 in Chofu, Tokyo, the Tokyo Art Museum was established as part of a city planning project of Sengawa. There are six architectures/structures designed by Tadao Ando Building Research Institute on the site divided by a newly established urban road. This museum holds exhibitions of various genres including contemporary art, photography, architecture, and design. It also functions as a place of cultural art dispatch. It is a long and slender, compact pavilion made of concrete. However, there are stairs in the center of third floor open ceiling. This brings the exhibition various view points from different angles. Incidentally, in the so-called "Ando Street" in front of the museum, there are several constructions designed by Tadao Ando. I would encourage any fans of architecture to take a stroll around this area.
