Yuri Hosho Exhibition ”What the Black Shows”
Events

From exhibition works(mixed media)

'Particles of black paint spread over the water, and lie thick on the unevenness of the surface. Seeing this, I remember the comfortable yet melancholic times of self-oblivion as walking along the street in the evenings. Sometimes consciousness precedes the body as I keep walking through the darkness as if I were the night wind. That is what I want the visual adventure of painting to be like.’

The expressionist aspect of her paintings in which emotions are projected onto the canvas in the form of body movements, and her will to create an independent space through the close interweaving of colour and form. With these two directions as the two wheels Yuri Hosho’s exploration of painting has made steady progress even if it has only been a few years. However, from the starting point she is also aware that painting can only stand up if it accepts the impact and weight of reality of life. The events that will be inscribed on her paintings in this exhibition will tell us something as we live in the same period of time.
