A group exhibition by new university and high school students studying with a painter Nobuhiko Utsumi is held every spring. And this year the theme for the first week is ‘Resisting the historical crisis of humanity and the oppression of the everyday’.
In this seemingly peaceful society, where material wealth and technology guarantee the convenience of life, young people are surrounded by a system of control and surveillance, and can unknowingly be turned into ‘useful cogs’ in tune with the expectations of their surroundings. In this context, Utsumi’s guidance encourages young people to be courageous and expressive to develop their spiritual independence, their social and historical awareness and their ability to think. The first step towards true independence is to create a work of art that expresses the cry of the soul as an individual.

Part 2 Artists : Ogawa Ryo, Kim Minjeong, Sato Chiho, Sato Mayuka, Motozawa Mai, Mishima Yuka, Watai Maho, Special exhibitor : Utsumi Nobuhiko
