Motoi Yoko exhibition ”In the midst of changing forms”

From exhibition works

Yoko Motoi’s work is based on the motif of the house as a place where people live. The artist uses two different materials, wax and mirror, and these illustrate the main theme. The wax melts easily when it is heated and the mirror reflects the surroundings rather than itself. Both are not fixed entities but symbolize the lives of the people who live in the house and the way they change. She says, ‘Moment and eternity, repetition and change, they are both contradictory yet exist at the same time, and they are the same thing. I think we exist in a mixture of different times.’
