KANO Mitsuo Wave Theory - Concerning Intaglio No. 28 1985 Color intaglio 70.0x50.0cm

Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to present KANO Mitsuo's solo exhibition of works from 1984-1985 entitled Wave Theory – Concerning Intaglio. This is the first color intaglio series Kano made and became one of the most important series of works among his wide range of works including metal prints, lithographs, oil paintings, and objects. In this exhibition, all 34 works of this series will be exhibited for the first time in 36 years.
Born in 1933, Kano taught himself techniques of intaglio and started his career as an artist in the 50s. In the 80s, he started to show brightly colored oil paintings along with various print works including metal prints and color intaglio. Kano's recent exhibitions in Center for Contemporary Graphic Art (2017, Fukushima) and the Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura (2013, Kanagawa) are highly acclaimed. In addition, Takiguchi Shuzo and Kano Mitsuo: Semiotics of the Storm Petrel, a two-person exhibition of Kano and his mentor Takiguchi, was held at Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art & Design in 2019.
