Hiraiwa Shiori’s work (Stone, Lace)

‘ Selection Exhibition Project of Students from Master's Program in Sculpture at the Graduate School of Art, Tama Art University’ includes exhibitions at the gallery in Tokyo. And every year, two excellent students are chosen by the department of sculpture of Tama Art University.

‘ Shiori Hiraiwa is interested in creatures which grow on stones in nature as slime molds and mosses. She is inspired by the way they are and is making art works combining stones and fabric laces. Stones look more beautiful when looked through the laces that are covering the stones with their totally different texture. She is finding a new expression which can bring about the fineness, smallness and prettiness of the stones.
