Emon Photo Gallery is proud to announce the exhibit "BACCHUS" starting September 25th.
This exhibit is a special collaboration between aspiring photographer Ryo Ohwada and French drawing artist Olivier Jung. Ohwada's "Wine Collection", widely-acclaimed in art fairs in France and Belgium, will be exhibited along with some new work as well as Olivier's unicursal drawings with calligraphy brushes.
French curator Caroline Trausch presents BACCHUS, a visual expression of the profound charm of wine and its attraction felt by countless people over thousands of years.
Please do not hesitate to contact the gallery with enquiries regarding the exhibit.

Bacchus is the Roman god of wine, which includes wine itself as well as grape vines, vineyards and the associated festivities. This exhibition explores the relationship between wine and man. Wine has existed for thousands of years, since the beginning of civilisation. Man has been perfecting wine making over this very long period, as well as contemplating its philosophy and enjoying it to its fullest, be it the rich colour, the inviting aroma or the exquisite taste. Wine is also strongly associated with celebration, from the simple family meal to the romantic country picnic to the grand and lavish banquet.

Using a very unique approach, Ryo Ohwada strives to record what he sees and feels. His red wine collection series documents leading wines and their romantic allure which has enticed people for centuries. Using his observant and insightful eye, Ohwada captures the elegance and beauty of wine's enchanting aspect from a graphic point of view, as well as its exact colour hues, from pale raspberry to deep crimson.

Olivier Jung's innovative technique involves a calligraphy brush that is not lifted from the page as the ephemeral drawing of a given personality quickly emerges. He captures the moment through improvisation and free movement. The selected drawings represent traditions and emotions as they relate to wine, such as the philosophical contemplation of a special vintage or the joy of experiencing wine and celebrating together.

The magnetic connection between the work of both artists plunges us into the fascinating world of wine and the special relationship between the product itself and those who make and enjoy it.
