Showcase/ MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY opens the new exhibition “still life” by Ryosuke OGINO. Ryosuke was born in1970 in Saitama and graduated from Department of Politics and Economy at Meiji University, Japan. For the previous decade, the abstract painting has been losing its reputation along to the emergences of the new media arts and the drawings/ illustrations that applied the icons derived form animation and manga culture. Against the mainstream of the market, Ryosuke has kept his stance as an abstract painter and continued producing the pictorial pieces. His exhibitions at TIME & STYLE GALLERY in 1999 and Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery in 2000 left the audience a distinctive impression about his constructive way of interrupting to the world. His works are the highly sophisticated and minimized still life paintings of our age. He is also like a traditional craftsman who achieved the painting technique to create the completely plain surface as well as to give the sense of handmade. This time, Showcase/ MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY introduces four selected pieces from his previous and latest works. * The text provided by MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY.
