Shoji Miyamoto, one of high-profile artists in recent days, was born in Osaka prefecture in 1988. In 2010, he graduated Osaka University of Art with a degree in fine arts. While enrolled in the course, he received Storage Prize and Audience Award at 34th University Prints Exhibition in 2009. In his works, familiar motifs like Sushi or Fruits show up. They are sometimes humorous and sometimes poetically. On the canvas, familiar-looking Sushi is caught in rain, drifting along the sea and stands in front of Bento Baran forest. Because Sushi seems to have his own will or emotions, there is an atmosphere like so-called “sincere non-sense”. In this his first solo exhibition at Gallery Jin, 15 new water printings will be exhibited.

Artist Comment
Depth and clearness, created by depositing layer upon layer of flat-screen printings, generates unprecedented impression toward familiar motifs. I focus attention on such impressions when building my works.
