Last autumn, Yoshihiko Satoh started a project - creating a series of sculptures, choosing Honda F1 engine as its motif. The project, of which the artist's purpose is to create a sculpture by connecting 10 Honda RA273 engines, began with a 1/12 maquette and the beautiful, limited-edition CG posters. The main theme of this project is to appreciate and encourage the spirit of product creation, by repeatedly using the artistic figures which lie in commercial products that show passion of the people who are concerned with mechanical products. This exhibition, titled 'Trachea', will be the first real step of the project which consists of just one sculpture, with a motif of an exhaust pipe so- called 'the last combustion chamber'. About 'Trachea' :
It is no exaggeration to say that the artistic figure of exhaust pipe of RA273 is nothing short of the visualized image of Honda's innovative spirit. It rather has to be said reckless. The exhaust pipe of F1 engine should be made, of course, based on logical technology. Yet this artistic figure renders in the forcible attempt of trying to compensate the logic with a smart idea. I try to demolish it this time, refusing their logic, in order to extract only the artistic figure. I believe that it would be one of the way to show my respect for the products and the sculptures as a person living on present days.
