NAKAIGAWA Yuki Tightly Gathered (detail / before firing) 2021 Ceramics 84x83x80cm

Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to announce NAKAIGAWA Yuki's solo exhibition of new works. Nakaigawa makes large-scale ceramic sculptures which consist of numerous parts jointed by bolts. Her recent interest is in making similar but slightly different shapes and place them side by side or arrange them in stacks. The collection of those shapes seems as if they are living creatures and has mysterious presence.

Nakaigawa (b.1960) received her M.A. from Tama Art University in Tokyo in 1986. Her sculptures are in collections of many museums including Ibakaraki Ceramic Art Museum in Japan, World Ceramic Exposition Foundation in Korea, Asian Art Museum in San Francisco and Minneapolis Institute of Art. She also works on commissioned works for public and private clients.
