ガーダー・アイダ・アイナーソンは、1976 年ノルウェー生まれ、ニューヨークと東京を拠点に活動する作家です。ペインティング、立体、コラージュ、写真、インスタレーションと様々な作品形式を展開するアイナーソンは、現代の社会・政治・経済の権力構造に見られる、権力／反権力の一筋縄ではいかない関係性を浮かび上がらせる作品で知られています。

アイナーソンは、政治、ポップカルチャー、サブカルチャーなどの幅広い領域から、そこで機能している記号やシンボルを作品に用います。作品に取り込まれた記号やシンボルは、極端に拡大されたり、一部分のみ切り取られたり、控え目に用いられたりすることで本来の意味を失い、実体をもたない空虚なものへと脱構築されています。彼の作品には、権力／反権力いずれに対しても思考を促す仕掛けが幾重にも埋め込まれております。また彼の作品は、レディ・メイドやポップアート、コンセプチュアル・アートといった 1960-70年代の美術動向を参照するにとどまらず、徹底したモノクロームの使用を通じて、ミニマリズムや構成主義における絵画作品のボキャブラリーとも交差するものとなっています。

本展では、Fluorescent Pink シリーズからのモノクローム・ペインティングが発表されます。

シリーズ名でもある蛍光ピンクのアクリル絵具がカンヴァスを占めるこれらの作品は、モノクローム・ペインティングのハイ・モダニズムへの徹底をより推し進めるものとなっている一方で、彼のこれまでの作品同様、権力構造への示唆が多分に埋め込まれている点においては、モノクロームの新たな可能性を切り開くものとなってもいます。 このほか、アメリカの刑務所の独房内に設置されている、懸垂用の棒を連想させる鉄製の立体作品や、郵便切手をモチーフにしたシルクスクリーン作品が発表されます。これらの作品の核には、9・11以後のアメリカに顕著な管理社会下における、権力／反権力の闘争への示唆、そして本展のタイトルが映画「ドクトル・ジバゴ」（1965）でクラウス・キンスキー演じるアナーキストのセリフから引用されていることからも窺えるように、アウトロー像の神話や歴史への意識が強く込められています。

アイナーソンの作品は近年、ベルゲン美術館での個展や、オスロ、レイキャヴィク、ストックホルム、カッセルへと巡回した展覧会 Power Has a Fragrance で注目を集めるほか、シドニー・ビエンナーレ（2010 年）、ホイットニー・ビエンナーレ（2008 年）、イスタンブール・ビエンナーレ（2005 年）などにも出品されています。

また本展にあわせて、Stainless Steel (Fine)と Fluorescent Pink のペインティング・シリーズを収録したモノグラフを刊行いたします。
