Osamu WATANABE (born in 1980 in Yamaguchi) established the new genre of artistic expression, “Fake Cream Art” using food sample technique. He was awarded a special prize at Acryl Award 2005 and Amuse Art Jam 2007. He exhibited in Shanghai and Belgium. And he helds exhibition with the artist who will participate in the Venice Biennale. In this summer, he will collaborate with Tsuyoshi Ozawa at the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale. Watanabe’s activities become known not only in Japan but also in foreign countries. And we have another two artists who are the first-year master’s degree students; Anna OYA and Kei HIROKAWA. Anna OYA (Born in 1987 in Kyoto) has been a focus of constant attention of commercial galleries since she exhibited at the “via art Osaka 2008” and “via art EFD”, which is aimed the discovery and the fostering of talented young artists. The competition’s judges are leading galleries owners. Anna Oya specializes in the oil painting in the graduated school of Kyoto City University of Arts. Her fantastical works evoke European landscape paintings, and she paints her favorite characters like a rabbit. You can sense the presence of her unique artistic world. Kei HIROKAWA (Born in 1987 in Kobe) is the master’s degree student at Tokyo University of the Arts after graduating Tama Art University. She paints the girl who is lost in dream thought, enveloped by light and water using only pen and pencil. You will be caught up in Hirokawa’s world where reality and unreality intersects. We found the keyword “Garden” from these artists’ works, and titled this group exhibition “Entrance into Garden”. This title means the entrance to their thoughts. Then, the word “entrance” means “enamor” and “fascinate” in its verb form. So we are sure that the word “entrance” can represent the art works of the three artists. We exhibit the five works each, totaling about 15 works, including the installation by Osamu Watanabe. We hope strongly that you will enjoy their gardens. * The text was provided by imura art gallery.
