Artist Statement
Often based on repetitive but not mechanical mark-making, I find more then one way to engage the eye. I vary the natural rhythm of repetition with subtleties of pattern, texture and color that tugs between suggestions of landscape in heavy atmospheric haze and flat surface pattern. I do not make paintings that describe objects but the phenomenological experience of seeing.
