Suien Hamada:The Sky of Mind

Artwork and poem collection book of Hamada Suien "The Sky of Mind" was issued on 8th September 2012. This exhibition is commemorative event of the book. Hamada Suien was born in 1926 , Koachi (Japan). She has experience of classroom teaching for 40 years. She study calligraphy under Yasuoka Neisui who is a great master of Shosouin (one of great calligraphy association in Japan). Now she is commissioner and adviser of Shosouin. "HAMADA athenaeum" was founded in 1984 by herself. She had opened "HAMADA athenaeum" for Kids every Saturday 13:00-17:00 every week, and she had kept reading book for kids, talking, Origami, playing and picture-card show. In 2005 she has donated the over 2800 books to support center of her home town, and the place after athenaeum became meeting place of calligraphy mate, named "Kogetsu-an" by her.

In the past several years she is stay in only around her house, " I am not calligrapher, just enjoying and playing to write my favorite things" she is saying. Her artworks of playing have been increasing huge number of her various expressions that jump the barrier of calligraphy. Mainly the works in the book are exhibited in this exhibition. *All of the works are postcard size.
