GALLERY HASHIMOTO is pleased to present a new exhibition of OGAWA Machiko.

Born in 1946 in Sapporo(Hokkaido), Ogawa graduated from National University of Arts and Music and studied in France and West Africa where she also had a chance to learn its original pottery. Ogawa's work easily crosses over the boundary between crafts and fine art and attracts viewers with her very original world.

In this exhibition, we will encounter her very new large two works in a private gallery space.

She has been working on this series since last year.

Although these two are in the same series, they look very different in their shape and glaze. Comparing these two next to each other, we might be able to presume her noematic channel during working procedure.

Ogawa has had two solo museum exhibitions in Japan; the Museum of Modern Art, Kanagawa in 2003 and Tokyo Opera City Gallery/Shinjuku in 2007. Her present solo exhibition at Toyota Municipal Museum of Art includes her important works through her career as well as large scale installation of most recent works. During the exhibition, there are a lot of events including artist's talk.
