A British painter, Lucian Freud was died in London on July 20, at the age of 88.
Lucian Freud was born in Berlin in 1922, moved with his family to London in 1933 to escape the rise of Nazism, and then became a British citizen in 1939. He is a grandson of Sigmund Freud.
Freud is known for the portrait and figure paintings, was widely considered the pre-eminent British artist of his time. His "Benefits Supervisor Sleeping" (1995) was accepted at the Christie's auction in New York for 33.6 million dollars. It was the highest price for the living artists at the time.
