May 8 is the International Museum Day, which has been celebrated all over the world since 1977. Each year, a theme is decided on by the ICOM (The International Council of Museums), the Advisory Committee. The theme of this year is "Museum and Memory".
In Japan, since the first participation in 2002, many museums have held celebrating events. Among varies events in this year, it is possible to see "ARTIST FILE2011" in The National Art Center, Tokyo and "THE POSTERS OF YOSHIO HAYAKAWA" in The National Museum of Art, Osaka free of charge.
