Floating reality - Gallery Project PART8 in 2008 We are impressed with the situations when something unrespectable or unknown matters happened such as meeting mysterious persons, having a surprising congratulation at an anniversary or solemn scenery suddenly appeared in front, and so on. Daisuke Abe creates works that the surface of the material such as trees and cloths is converted to a specific object which gives a sense of touch and fresh shape. He extracts the meaning and character of the material itself by the process under “having it swung”. Asako Tanaka uses real objects in her photographs or solid works; however, those works give a sense of non-reality and floating. Junji Yamada makes solid objects himself and photographs them, and process it further by his original technique. The process makes the work rather vague in the material whether or not a photograph or painting, a solid or plain work. This perplexity in front of the work arises our hidden sense. It is common to these artists' works like floating on the place in which it began to overflow there though it stands at a certain realistic point. The exhibition entitled “Overflow” will thus provide you an experience of tolerable quantity of understanding and of finding something which hasn’t been translated into a language but surely exists in mind. * All text provided by Galerie Suiran.
