Suntory Museum of Art opened in Marunouchi, Tokyo in 1961, based on the principle of bringing the joy of "Art in Life" to a wider public. It moved to Akasaka in 1975 and then to the green-rich section of Tokyo Midtown in 2007. It has abundant collections of valuable Japanese antiques which were collected after war. Some of the prominent works include glass craftwork by artists such as Edo Kirico, Satsuma Kirico, and glass artworks by Charles Martin Émile Gallé etc. The current building was designed by the internationally renowned architect, Keno Kumar and has unique features as seen in its exterior, which is finished with louvres of a white-porcelain, and the interior toned with wood and Japanese paper.
