Art Front Gallery will be presenting the solo exhibition of Masumi Nakaoka who creates artwork not to re-produce some split second, but to re-compose landscape, by observing artificial and natural changes from definite distance. This exhibition will be the first exhibition after renewed our gallery space.

In her latest art works, anonymous landscape and the specific landscape; such as Kanazawa and Hiroshima don't appear which frequently appeared her previous art works. However, the artificial scenery; such as protection wall and quarry appear often in her latest art work. As time passes, contour of the quarry's gravel changes and during the summer, concrete protection wall will be covered by the weed. The landscape that you actually observe and the landscape that you only know from your knowledge tend to be totally deferent. The main characteristic of the new artwork is the gap between the time axis of the drawn objects and the gap between the object and subject. When the artist creates her artwork on the assumption that these double gap, the competence of composition is required more than before.

We would be pleased if you could note artist's competence of composition and the new materials to support it.
