Founded in 2000 and organized Rice gallery by G2 (2001-2002) with Gallery Koyanagi (Ginza) in Sagacho, Tokyo. Current gallery ShugoArts was opened in Shinkawa in 2003, and relocated to Kiyosumi-Shirakawa in November 2005.

As the basic principle is “no border,” the gallery represents, regardless of their home country or age, international top contemporary-artists with unique characteristics: e.g. Jan Fable, Ilya Kabakov, Navin Rawanchaikul, Yasumasa Morimura, Naofumi Maruyama, SHIMABUKU, Tomoko Yoneda, Reiko Ikemura and Teppei Kaneuji.
