Junya Nagaya was born in Tottori Prefecture, in 1987 and now studying at Tokyo Zokei University of Art. Received grand prize from 2008 Gunma biennale for young artists. Exhibited at Oxidized Reality-7 Artists from the Gunma Biennale for Young Artists-, the museum of modern art Gunma.

In this his first solo exhibition, about 10 oil paintings are exhibited under the theme of “Konjac”.

“My paintings are composed of several fragments of images or pile of such fragments. As they are piled, they bear a kind of rule on the canvas, and it gradually getting difficult to add new fragment on it.”

※”Konjac”, the title of this exhibition, named after “Konjac’s day” (number sequence of 5/29 can pronounce like “Konjac” , so this is a kind of a play on words).
