Opened in Shinbashi, Tokyo in July 1998 and relocated to Asakusa-bashi in July 2005, The Shanghai branch "JING ART GALLERY" was opened in September 2006. Regardless of genre, career, or nationality, MAKII MASARU FINE ARTS functions as an antenna for various kinds of artists' activities by utilizing its first and second floor exhibition areas. Currently there are many contemporary art galleries around Asakusa-bashi. This impetus for this area to have become an active contemporary art spot like this might have been initiated by this gallery. In Asakusa-bashi, known as a wholesale district, MAKII MASARU FINE ARTS functions as a "wholesale district" of contemporary art by being friendly and introducing experimental art to us. Among the artists who were edxhibited in past are Noriaki Imai, Hitomi Uchikura, Hironari Kubota, Toshiya Kobayashi, Yumiko Shiozaki, Shoshu, Masaya Shirahama, Hiroaki Nakatsugawa, Shinsaku Baba, Saeko Hirano, Daisuke Funaki, Aiko Yamamoto, Anette Paulsen, Bodo Korsig, and Chen Wenling.
