Opened in November of 2004, this small gallery with only 10m² of space, “a piece of space APS” is managed by people who have been involved in various aspects of the art world. The alias is “APS”. It functions as a project-base gallery as necessary for the present art society, where the members share their specialties and personal connections, and search for and propose activities while helping each other.

As the main activity is named "a piece of work", they have occasionally held special exhibitions of solo-shows which only exhibit a single work. There is a feeling of tension and liberation when facing a single work in a small space. We find that the exhibition space can change its appearance into either a small or a large space according to the work exhibited. The “a piece of space APS” also extends its activities by cooperating with other galleries in the same building or utilizing the whole building according to the exhibition.

Among the represented artists are Masako Ishizuka, Etsuko Iwao, Tatsuji Ushijima, Takashi Kunitani, Toshiya Kobayashi, Toshiyuki Shibakawa, Fumie Hiratai, Takeshi Honda, Akinori Matsumoto, and Shigenobu Yoshida.
