SHINOTSUKA was born in 1970 in Kumamoto and graduated from Tama Art University, department of painting, Japanese painting course. SHINOTSUKA participated in the group exhibition "MOT Annual 2006 : No Border" at Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo, in 2006, also joined the group exhibition "Picnic or Recurrent Migration" at Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto, in 2008. What Shinotsuka depicted in the paintings are “inner landscapes” rooted in his own memories and experiences, but his underlying theme is to capture the circulation of the atmosphere: unconsciously yet universally perceived nature’s breath. The images with a lambent light somewhere deep down or silently pulsating life forces evoke various sensations stored in viewers’ memories. This latest exhibition features approximately 9 new paintings. * The text provided by ANDO GALLERY.
