Shonandai Gallery was opened in 1987 in Kanagawa Prefecture and Shonandai, mainly as an art gallery for project exhibitions. Its guiding concept is “to have originality” and “to be contemporary art which shows a variety of messages relevant to the present day”. It consistently introduces high-quality artists, regardless of whether they are famous or not. The exhibition space, which has a striking concrete strike interior with a ceiling 4.5m in height, provides a sense of relief, and we can spend a settled and quiet time there. Shonandai MY Gallery was also opened in January, 2008 in Tokyo and Roppongi from the desire to introduce Japanese artworks of high quality to foreigners. Various exhibitions can be seen in the rectangular space with white walls. Moreover, Shonandai Gallery actively promotes its artists not only in Japan but also in worldwide, as seen in its participation in a variety of international art fairs in countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, Shanghai, Singapore, India, and Italy, and exhibitions at overseas art galleries. Among the represented artists are Reishi Kusaka, Mamiko Minamidate, Hideaki Yamamoto, Ryota Umino, Seihou Suzuki, Namu Choi, Yoko Sato, Akiko Tatsui, and Taekom Maezawa.
