‘Focusing on a new generation in Tokyo’ is an annual cosponsored project hold by seven contemporary art galleries centering around Ginza and Kyobashi. Each gallery has chosen a young artist and holds a solo exhibition at the same time.

This time Gallery K has chosen an artist Shin Naoko. The main themes of Shin's paintings are ‘an uncertain world that crawls with overwhelming power and can never be grasped, our own existence and life we can certainly feel in this world and the workings of nature’. In this exhibition, she focuses especially on ‘existence as individuals and boundaries of them’ and on ‘to touch them and to be touched by them’. Shin's sharp touch as fragments of shattered light make various colours conflict with each other, and shapes are repeatedly created and extinguished. And the beautiful, vivid and mysterious sparkle of life is drawn as it is in all its riskiness.
