Gallery Terra Tokyo are pleased announce to have the second solo exhibition of Tatsuya Matsushita. In this exhibition, we will be showing about 15 new artworks of Tatsuya Matsushita. As he continued to use the technique of collage, he also challenged solid works for the first time, and expanded the depth of expression.“The ’Matrix’ which is also the title of this exhibition is from Latin ‘Womb’”, says Matsushita. It means the “one to give birth to something”. It proliferates and reminds us the modern consumption society that keeps producing something. According to Matsushita, “From the embracing image, a round collage and the painting part embedded under the canvas with resin are wrapped in the “Society” and indicate ourselves who belongs there or the society itself.” Matsushita cuts out the “Now” and embeds it. The artworks of Matsushita certainly is the clipping and embedment of the “catalog = contemporary symbol”. This series especially expressed the relationship of “Society” and “Individual” today among the “Now”. Tatsuya Matsushita born in 1982 Aichi Japan. 2006 B.A., Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Tokyo, Japan. 2008 participated in group exhibition at Mehr Gallery NY. * The text provided by Gallery Terra Tokyo.
