Tokyo School of Arts = TSA was embodied by an original educational philosophy of an artist Ghiju Saito in his last years. Ghiju Saito had always been a pioneer in the field of abstract arts from early Showa period (1926~) until 2001 the year he passed away. “The Present Time Expressed” is an annual group exhibition hold by a group of graduates of TSA. As to take over this action, volunteers have set up a new group called Zeroist since 2009.
“Zeroist” is named after the past work of Saito that was presented in 1950. This exhibition pays an homage to their honored teacher and it shows that they always keep questioning what the zero point of their expression means to them.
