Katsuko Ishigaki, View from Aoyama Park I, oil on canvas, 2019

eitoeiko is pleased to announce Landscape with Base II by Katsuko Ishigaki. At her previous solo exhibition last year, Ishigaki depicted typical Okinawan landscape, the hot sun and the blue sea, the historic site of Ryukyu Dynasty and the bases of the United States with oil painting. At Landscape with Base II, Ishigaki continues to indicate the current situation of Okinawa. In addition, the artist shows the current situation of Tokyo. The exhibition reveals the imbalance of Okinawa and Tokyo. The artist lived in Okinawa long time, and observed the change that the base has returned to Japan and a new town has made. Her painting is a hope to peace. At the exhibition, Ishigaki will show two dozen of her new paintings which are made in 2018 to 2019.
