Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to present Days of Hanging on, an exhibition of TOMITA Natsumi's new works of human figures made of newspapers. An overweight office worker, a high school girl who loves new things--17 people you often see on train will hang on straps in their own ways in the gallery.
Born in 1986, Tomita graduated from the oil painting course of Tama Art University, Tokyo. Tomita joints waste materials, such as scrap metal, together to give them another life as animal sculptures. She also creates human figures using newspapers and magazines which are the media reflecting trends and social phenomena of the times. She has had solo exhibitions at The Sato Museum of Art (Tokyo, 2013) and Kanagawa Prefectural Gallery (Kanagawa, 2016) among others.
