Tobari Hana's work, iron, 2017

‘Selection Exhibition Project of Students from Master's Program in Sculpture at the Graduate School of Art, Tama Art University’ includes exhibitions at the gallery in Tokyo. And every year, two excellent students are chosen by the department of sculpture of Tama Art University.

Hana Tobari sees sculpture as something which shows everything to do with the artists’ emotions and expectations, time, the shapes created by the meeting of a person and the material, and the traces made by the interaction and conflict between a person and the material. Huge amount of time and a long-term build up of the endless quantity of work bring the chains of delicate iron drops into one lump. This process is mutually connected with the fact that a life-form and a natural object are build up with each tiny cells and tissues.
