Transparency -Flow- (detail) Silver powder, metallic powder on aluminum composite panel 160x80x0.5cm (2 panels)

Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to announce the third solo exhibition of OKA Tomoyo.
Oka (b. 1986) studied traditional techniques of urushi, the Japanese lacquer, at Kanazawa Collage of Art and received her Ph.D in art.
By maximizing the effect of transparency of urushi, Oka makes it possible to create the multilayered pattern in which several layers are contained to give the patter complex depth. Furthermore, the patter you see is actually covered by the top layer of transparent urushi, so the surface is as smooth and flat as water.
