"Silent Birds" 2016 Mineral pigment, India ink on hemp paper 130.3x162cm

Galerie Tokyo Humanité presents KOMATSUZAKI Akira's solo exhibition. Komatsuzaki uses traditional materials of Japanese painting and paints birds repeatedly. He says he is attracted to the shapes of birds as they evoke memories of the past experiences or feelings attached to them.

Komatsuzaki (b. 1982) completed the doctoral program of Japanese painting at Musashino Art University without degree in 2010. He is a member of the SOGA-Kai Association of Japanese Painting, the association to promote contemporary Japanese painting.
