" Laminated record " soil? plaster? bronze, 2016

In this project which is held every autumn, two students majoring in sculpture at master's degree course of Tama Art University are selected by the professors and each has solo exhibition in Gallery K.

Morita Keita always asks himself " What are we human beings ? " But he knows there is no right answer, and only thing he can say is that he just lives now and will die eventually. In this exhibition, he shows the work which asks us about how we become conscious of death in everyday life. The human skeleton is made of 206 bones, but he presents only one piece of bone as the proof of one human being having lived. It is the simplest form of the trace of one person's life, and tells us nothing about his character or history. But for this reason, because it tells nothing, we might be impressed with the absoluteness of the fact called the death, and at the same time, we might be aware of the marvel of the fact that we are living.
