From exhibition work (part), Acrylic on canvas, 2016

" The light colors come to shine, and lead us far and away, to the farthest land. That is how I want my paintings to be."

Hayashi Nobuo's works sound like cool music. Delicate symphony of colors which appear like spectrum reflected through prism. He makes the combination of some light colors by putting thin paint repeatedly on white planes of canvases, and each canvas sounds like a variation of the others.

" I just want to express what I really feel in my daily life. I don't need any abstract idea, or religious belief."

Formally he used to make big monochrome works which shaked our body with the physical pressure of the colors, but in recent years his works has turned to be smaller and to give us very subtle, soft and calming impression. It may seem that in these works we can find the peace of mind which he is earnestly searching, and so the most of people are, living in this world where it becomes difficult more and more to obtain it.
