We are living in the world where the global network of market and internet promotes homogenization of many people's life style. On the other hand, the fear for economic disparity's expansion and loss of traditional cultural identity raises the motive that people desire originality of their race, nationality or religion. In such a circumstance, we Japanese also often talk about " How should there be Japan? " or " What should the Japanese do? ". However, can we recognize " Japan " as a matter of course or the fact we are sharing? Each one of us should let oneself loose from a fixed idea and obviousness and issue a basic question " What is Japan? " or " Does it really exist?". This exhibition consists of the work of 21 artists each one of whom expressed his/her own thought or emotion about " Japan " by the language of art.
