KOKI ARTS is proud to present Joe Goode's first solo exhibition at the gallery, Moonglows & Fireflies. This exhibition will showcase prints from two different series printed in 1984 and in 1998.

As a pioneering artist of the Los Angeles art scene, Joe Goode combines elements of Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art in his work. Many of Goode's work also deals with nature, light, and space. The two series of prints presented in this exhibition both depict a natural source of light and also the idea of looking through something, which is a concept Goode has been practicing since his famous milk bottle paintings in the 1960s. A work from one of the two series, a Forest Fire lithograph was included in a three-person exhibition with Ed Ruscha and Jerry McMillan at the Oklahoma City Art Museum in 1989.

Joe Goode (b.1937) moved to Los Angeles in 1959 and attended Chouinard Art Institute until 1961. In 1962, his work was included along with artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Jim Dine, and Edward Ruscha in the historical first museum exhibition of Pop Art in the US. Throughout his career, Goode's work has been exhibited at galleries and museums around the world. In 2015, his work has been exhibited at Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Van Doren Waxter, Barbara Mathes Gallery, Kohn Gallery, Quint Gallery, and Palos Verdes Art Center. Moonglows & Fireflies will be Joe Goode's first solo exhibition in Japan since 1995 at Nantenshi Gallery.
