This show will present new body of work of this artist, for the second time at our gallery since 2009.

In his previous exhibition "Seisai", Shigekazu Onuma (Born 1972, Tokyo) presented photographs sharply approached to the subject and aroused great interests of the viewers including media. Meanwhile, as Onuma says "Although it looks like merely empty, boring space, there you can always find something if you look closely," his new body of work strives to capture the border between visible and invisible things. These photographs are taken in Onuma's neighborhood and give us familiar impression at a glance, however at the same time, they also give us feelings out of place as if looking at something we have never seen before. What Onuma is doing here is perhaps, to capture something like "memory of place" which is consistently inherent in any common places. As seeing the photograph, you may also sense that the border previously mentioned is actually implying that of between life and death. Throwing doubt on meaning of your existence, Onuma's new body of work recalls your momentary memories and stirs up your feelings.

In this exhibition, tens of his new print in various sizes will be on view, and his private-edition photo book (with original print) will be also available at gallery.
