KOIKE has graduated Nihon University College of Art, B.F.A.,Sculpture in 2003. In recent years, the unique sense of KOIKE’s expression has attracted legion of fans and developed and impressed us his own perspective of the world. In this exhibtion, “The first half” mainely consists of two-dimentional works and “ The latter half” consists of three-dimensional works, videos and new mediums. KOIKE uses various motifs such as physical objects like a house, a dress, a pot, body, to conceptual ideas of space, garden, light, festival, ceremony and geometric patterns. “ The existing that exists beyond individual, which was once connected by numerous individuals” is KOIKE’s main interest. It is a sense of discomfort when we see the traditional festival in the middle of the giant metropolis. It is “ something completely different from us, but still exists.” KOIKE try to understand the dissolved problems in our society using the gap between the modern thoughts and the thoughts which we do not have anymore but it once had. KOIKE’s method of expression repeats, transforms and it makes the final form unpredictable. His creation is not to produce the work from zero, but to manipulate them from misalignment produced from repetition and transformation and make a metaphor of this world. The number of the past that each individuals connected and made will be a huge gurge which individuals has taken in and disspaeared, and this will be repeated for eternity. KOIKE’s work indicates the method to actively relates to ever transforming future. We will be having an opening reception on 12 November and on 24 December, there will be a closing & year-end party in the gallery. We hope to see you in this exhibition. * The text provided by AISHO MIURA ARTS. Period: Saturday, November 12 - Saturday, December 3, 2011 |
