Kenji Yokoya transforms the material corrugated cardboard into exquisite spatial forms. When corrugated paper is cut into long thin strips and pasted together so that the cross-sections line up horizontally, a plane with a net-like structure is formed. When these planes are connected into rectangles to form a three-dimensional object, the light shining through the countless holes interferes with each other creating stripes and other moire patterns, and the space in which they stand as the forest creates surprisingly rich expressions.
