The exhibitions of graduation works by undergraduates and graduates of the art universities in the whole country are held in various places in February and March. It is an exhibition the artists selected from the graduates of Nagoya University of Arts, Western-style painting courses.
It is difficult to judge the school tradition and the educational level of the university only by the 4 artists’ exhibition here. However, it is likely to become a chance of meeting new works for the people who live outside the prefecture.
I am sorry to trouble other artists, who were not selected, but if I daringly raise a specific name from the 4 artists in this exhibition, it is Munetaka Maekawa; he seems to show his clear will to embody a reality into a certain form. Is it a restraint or liberating? - there is an uncertain as well as realistic physical sensibility that can be received in both.
There is also an exhibition related with Nagoya University of Arts in MATSUO MEGUMI+VOICE GALLERY pfs/w in Kyoto (February 20 – March 14, 2010), in which you can see Maekawa’s work.
